Our beauty writer caught up with House DJ Prudence “Miss Pru” Sebalo, she shares her beauty secrets with us.
You work in a male dominated industry, how do you stay beautiful and looking your best?
Confidence goes a long way, you need to believe in yourself and trust that you know what you’re doing. I believe in inner beauty, when you have a beautiful soul, it reflects on the outside as well and it will never fade away.
Beauty is…
What you want it to be. ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.’ As cliché as it sounds, it’s true.
Shield’s quote we love is “do more.” How does Miss Pru do more?
Miss Pru has big dreams, I work hard towards achieving them every day! I make sure I go an extra mile just so that I don’t end up blending in. Not only that, but I also believe in reaching out and giving a hand to those that need a push in the right direction. You do so much more when you help the next person, it builds and strengthens your own character.
How do you keep your make-up fresh throughout the day?
A good skincare routine is key. I have taken care of my own skin to a point where I don’t always feel the need to wear make-up throughout the day. I keep it minimal with mascara, eye liner, blush and lip gloss or lipstick depending on my outfit. If I have a shoot for the day then my make-up artist saves the day!
What is your favourite eyeshadow trend and why?
I love the smokey eye trend because every girl’s alter ego comes out when she’s rocking a sexy, sultry smokey eye.
Lipstick vs lip gloss, which is your favourite and why?
Depends on the mood and my outfit, so I would say both. Lip gloss is always good for a ‘get up and go’ moment. Lip stick is more of a ‘Let’s go and conquer the world’ look.
Do you see yourself as a trend setter or follower and why?
Both. I have my days where I pull something together and hope I’m setting a trend *giggles* and you know every girl has a Rihanna inspired moment or 2 or 3…
What advice do you have for our readers who want to “Do more” but don’t know where to start?
Have a plan, nothing beats planning. It gives you a sense of direction and you can always go back to the drawing board to see when things aren’t going according to your plans. It’s easy to narrow down what you need to do when you have a plan jotted down, rather than being all over the place and getting nothing done because you really don’t know what you’re doing or going. You can never have enough planning.
