With living in South Africa, we get to experience the iconic ‘four seasons in a day’ kind of weather. Whether it be going from thunderstorms to sunshine or clouds to heatwaves, we are rarely ever prepared. However, to ensure that you are kitted out and ready for any drop of rain or sun ray, we have some wardrobe tips for you.
Layering
Layering for any season is essential, especially with your all-time-favourite weather. To avoid carrying extra pieces of clothing around, layer your favourite winter warmers with your summer wardrobe. Having a light first layer always helps in times where you are able to either slip off a jersey or coat.
Fabrics
Understanding fabrics or knowing how to pair them is a benefit. Whether you prefer silks over satins or fleece over knits, regulating the different fabrics are important. To preserve body heat in colder weather, opt for lightweight fabrics that works well all round. Fabrics like silk, cashmere and fine knit wool are easy to layer and gives your outfit a luxurious lightweight spring look.
Accessories
Of course accessories! Scarfs, bucket hats, gloves – they are all part of the unpredictable weather staple. From summer to autumn and winter to spring, these accessories will come in handy. Toss them on to not only warm the body, but add a new-look to your already picture perfect outfit. Should you not have a bucket hat, opt for a scarf and wrap it according to preference.
Shoes
Who told you wearing heels with socks was a no? It’s the 21st century and you need to jump on the wagon. Keeping your feet warm or allowing it to breathe is essential when pairing your pieces. Should you want to wear a specific heel or boot, slip a thin sock or stocking on your feet that you’ll be able to take off during the day if need be. Alternatively, opt for a mule that covers the toes while showing some skin.
These tips are sure to help you maintain any weather during the day while still serving a style-savvy wardrobe.
