Leah Gracia (31), mother of 2 – has received harsh backlash from a recent viral TikTok video that surfaced of her waxing her daughter’s eyebrows.
Leah and her 2 daughters Behautti (11) and Bliss (3) are of Hispanic heritage. It’s where they get their dark, thick hair. Growing up she was made fun of for her thick and dark-haired unibrow – so when her three-year-old daughter started growing hair in the space between her eyebrows, she decided to take action in wanting to protect her daughter from being bullied, she waxes both daughters’ eyebrows.
This was all done with the children’s permission.
Bliss shouts”Ow, mom, that hurt me,” to which her mom replies, “All right, girl, now you got two eyebrows!” in the video.
Leah explains: “Bliss was just over two when I started waxing her and she would always see me wax her older sister’s eyebrows, so she asked me if she could have it done too.” After Bliss repeatedly asked to have her eyebrows waxed, Leah gave in.
There is a waxing day in the Gracia household. Once a week Leah waxes her own eyebrows and offers to wax her daughters’ brows as well. “If they say no, I don’t do it”, she says.

Leah believes in starting to wax your eyebrows early on in life. She says: “The sooner you start with waxing, the less it grows back.”
She is only waxing their unibrows and has no desire to mess around with any other part of the eyebrow. Her eldest daughter now doesn’t have much of a unibrow because of the waxing early in life.
She says, “People say I’m projecting my own insecurities onto her and that I should teach her not to care what people think, but at the end of the day, she’s human, and as much as we want to say what people say, doesn’t bother you, it does.”
She calls it ‘basic grooming’ and encourages her daughters to make their own decisions as well.
She adds: “If they grow up and want thick eyebrows again, it’s easy to come back from, but being bullied is something you don’t come back from, and I’m preventing it from happening in the first place.”
Other moms reached out to Leah saying she should do what’s in the best interest of her children and educate her girls on some self-care practices that many have been doing for years. Due to the nature of their bloodline, she has just decided to fast-track the process and start earlier.
Leah shares: “I got so many comments from other moms thanking me and saying they have wanted to do this as well but were worried what others would think. Others say they do this but have done it in secret as they were worried about what people would say.”
On her own body hair Leah says: “I am very hairy, and I remember being younger and none of my siblings were as hairy as me, and they would make fun of me. Kids at school pointed it out, especially boys.
Her parents wouldn’t allow her to wax which resulted in her shaving them but as many know, shaving might result in quicker, thicker hair regrowth. Of this she notes: “I’d rather y’all call me a bad mom before I let my 3-year-old walk around with a unibrow as my parents did!”
Leah believes she is a confident woman and only wants the best for her daughter so that they feel confident as well.
