So congratulations are in order for Solange Knowles who just tied the knot. We love the orange lip she rocked on her wedding day. While there’s no rule on how to copy the look, don’t be afraid to try different tricks – whether you use your finger, brush or the lipstick itself. Your skin tone is important: the darker your skin, the darker the shade of lipstick. Just like Solange – who wore an understated yet dramatic wedding dress with the afro and popping orange lip as the focal point – don’t be afraid to try this vibrant look.
Step 1
Foundation: After you’ve cleansed and moisturised your face, apply foundation using either a sponge or brush. Make sure you’ve covered your whole face, ears and neck to achieve an even tone look all over your body.
Step 2
Eyeliner: Draw a line across you upper lid on the lash line. Make sure you draw as close to the lashes as possible to give the impression of thicker lashes. Line the inside of your bottom lid with the eyeliner.
Step 3
Eyeshadow: Apply a neutral colour eyeshadow like light brown, skin tone or beige to your eyelid from the lash line to the crease of your eye. Apply a hint of gold on the inner corner of your eye to brighten your face and eyes.
Step 4
Mascara: Complete the eye by applying mascara. Always close the eye you’re applying mascara on, rub the wand at the root of the lashes then brush out. Repeat on the other eye.
Step 5
Lipstick: Apply a nude lip liner on the inside rim of your lips then apply your orange lipstick. Lipstick lasts longer when lips are lined with a liner first.
