After the success of our Trends High Tea, Resident Senior Artist at MAC, Keagan Cafun talks to us about his take on Spring/Summer trends.
What is beauty to you?
Beauty is about expressing your individuality. Expressing yourself through trends and finding what you feel comfortable in. It is about wearing something that defines your femininity.
What is your favourite beauty trend?
I have fallen in love with the Light FX Trend: It encompasses the natural architecture of the face; highlighting the features, where the light naturally hits the cheekbones, using cool tones to create a moonlit glow.
What did you enjoy most at the trends high tea?
The presentations on the fashion trends for the season. It was a great insight into how fashion and beauty can combine to create a statement for all women, enabling them to enhance their natural beauty.
What are some of the summer beauty trends that you are looking forward to seeing?
Skin is the focus again this season. It is all about the individual and the enhancement of your natural femininity – having “spa like” minimalist skin, which looks strikingly modern.
50s reboot – a new take on a traditional liner but with a funky edge
60s lash – it’s all about taking time with mascara application and coating each individual lash, think Twiggy.
90s grunge – This involves slept in eyeliner that leaves the product to move and crease thereby creating its own dimensions. The point of this look is to apply the product as close as possible to the lash line, leaving it to merge with the skin, creating a full blown smokey eye.
What lip colour will be on trend this summer?
This season we will be seeing bubble gum pinks, mandarin orange and shades of lilac that will be perfected using modern techniques and inspiration. Instead of coating the lip with one defined colour, the shade of your choice is pressed into the centre of your lip, this creates blurred edges that make for a striking look.
What are some of your make-up no no’s?
Your eyebrows reflect emotion on your face and by having fully drawn on eyebrows only shows one emotion… anger. Go for a more pleasant look by creating a brow using a thin brow pencil to mimic the illusion of hair. This will give them a modern look.
What advice would you give to our readers about beauty?
Preparation is key – use products that give hydration to your skin, increasing the longevity of the make-up that you apply.
Also, make sure you use the correct tools, this will ensure the best results when applying make-up.
