Personal trainer and fitness expert Donovan Rabie says when it comes to the whole family and exercise, the main thing to consider is fun.
He recommends these easy games for the whole family to participate in during holidays to get the body moving while spending quality time together:
1. Beach volleyball
If you are going to the beach, consider buying a beach volleyball kit. Put the net up on the soft sand and have fun as a family. This is a great way to exercise.
2. Soccer
You don’t need to be great footballers to enjoy the benefits of a family soccer match. The constant running back and forth will leave keep everyone fit.
3. Marco Polo
Start by having everyone in the water. Get one person to close their eyes and shout “Marco”. Everyone else must respond with “Polo”. After hearing the word “Polo”, the person with their eyes closed must swim in the direction of the voices. If a person is touched before they can swim away, then they must be the person with their eyes closed to shout “Marco”. This is so fun for the whole family and will definitely leave you out of breathe.
According to Donovan, children instinctively know how to exercise and have fun at the same time. Watch them and maybe you can learn a thing or two.
