Dreams delayed are not dreams denied! So says Lily, who recently attended her graduation ceremony after completing her diploma in Human Resource Management through BMT College.
It was a day of jubilation and praise as hundreds of students donned their caps and gowns to formally receive their qualifications. And just like with many other students, it was Lily’s company that told her to enrol with BMT College – a fully-fledged online, accredited college that can help you turn your dreams into a reality.
“I’m 33 years old. My daughter is so proud of me. But I will tell anyone: If you can study, do it!” says Lily from Atteridgeville in Pretoria.
BMT College’s virtual campus, immense support and no exams – yes, you read that right, no exams! – make it so easy to study that Lily is now continuing her studies with BMT College to obtain her higher Human Resources (HR) qualification. She’s learned that dreaming big does pay off.
Lily found it helpful to complete her assignments at her convenience, and that is precisely what BMT College offers: Students have flexibility but also structure to assist them even in the most challenging parts of reaching their dreams. This convenient way of studying is what Cecilia, who also walked across the ceremonial stage to get her diploma in HR, experienced too.
“Last year November, while studying my last module, I lost my mother. I also lost my husband earlier while I was still studying. But today, I’m excited and proud to be here,” Cecilia smiles. Like Lily, her employer recommended BMT College as the preferred study partner. “There were times I thought I couldn’t do this, but I looked at my children, and it meant a lot to them,” she shares. Cecilia now wants to start her advanced diploma – which is a NQF level 7.
Praiseworth Hams, who received his higher certificate in Business Management at BMT College, says he is now, at 41 years old, on a lifelong journey to learn more. “I can show my kids of, 13 and 15, that I’m still studying. The hardest part is having limited time while you work, but the lecturers are always there to assist. No matter how old you are, you can do it. There is so much I learnt that I can now apply in my job – the business side of things and a bit about everything.”
Praiseworth decided to make BMT College his study partner after he read comments about the college online. He flew from Cape Town to the grand event in Johannesburg to celebrate his achievement. “Even without exams, there are no shortcuts, you have to do the work, but you don’t need to take time off of work,” he explains.
Someone who knows how hard it is to study part-time is BMT’s principal, Bernie van der Linde, who obtained her PhD while working. “It was my dream to get it before I was 50 and to show my sons it can be done, and I am so glad I did it. I understand all the challenges of studying when you are older.”
That is why BMT College goes out of its way to help students persist and push through obstacles. “Our HR department encouraged me to study through BMT College,” says Daniel Setswaise, who says he learned everything he needed to know about disciplinary processes and how to apply the theory of what he learned in his job.
