South African musician, J’Something called out by fans on Twitter after he shared a picture of himself and his dog.
In a now-deleted tweet, J’Something posted a picture of his dog, with the caption “izinja ze game”, which translates to dogs of the game.
Some fans assumed that the dog was a pit bull and did not take kindly to the picture.
Some tweeps felt that the ‘Chocolate’ hitmaker was being insensitive towards the unfortunate incident of a three-year-old boy in Hennenman along with an eight-year-old boy in Bloemfontein who were both mauled by a pit bulls to death.
Scores of people took to social media recently to call for pit bulls to be banned in South African.
After receiving backlash, the star took to Social Media to defend his dog saying he is not a pit bull but an “American Bully.”
According to Animal Corner, “the American Bully originated in the United States between 1980 and 1990, making them a relatively new breed. They are the result of an American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pitbull Terrier and other Pitbulls. They were established as their own breed in the 1980s, with the American Bully Kennel Club founded 20 years later.”
The hub also adds that, “it is often thought that the American Bully is a type of pit bull but this is not true. These two breeds are actually completely different. They look very like pit bull’s which can often lead to a negative stigma around the breed. However, they have actually been bred to produce a dog with a soft and mellow personality,’ they explain.

However, Mzansi was not here for it and still felt that he was being insensitive towards the death of those children who were attacked by pit bulls.

“So low, insensitive and not funny. An innocent child has died. I’m utterly disappointed,” one Twitter user commented on J’Something’s picture.
Another user added: “I’d rather you add to knowledge pool on how owners can better train these dogs. Glorifying them after so many deaths by this breed is hardly commendable.”
J’Something clarified and continued to defend his dog and explained that the dog is an American Bully XL.
He also revealed that he took his dog to a training camp for eight weeks and continues to train his dog daily.
But that didn’t stop as people from sharing their views.
“I think just remove this post. It’s a bit insensitive and just now another kid has been killed by a pit bull. Granted yours ain’t it. But please read the room and do the right thing. Emotions are high,” one person commented.
Another person wrote: “Read the room, yes it might not be one but it sure looks like one. It’s as though you’re mocking the outcry of banning pit bulls by posting this.”
But some people came to the singer’s defence.
“So people shouldn’t post their pet dogs because a dog of a totally different breed killed someone?”
J’Something shared a follow-up tweet once again clarifying the breed of his dog.
“I know this probably won’t go anywhere on a platform like this but for those who actually care and for what it’s worth … this dog is NOT A PITBULL.”
