As Heritage month comes to an end, we’ve seen numerous celebrities show us how patriotic they are. The Joburg Live Loud concert earlier this month had a showcase of amazing talent in the music industry. It also gave us a chance to find out how some of our local celebrities live loud. We caught up with five celebrities who told us how and what makes them feel South African. By: Boitumelo Mmakou 1.Zolani Mahola I love living among people who love their country, have a positive spirit and are energetic. 2. Thandi Thabethe I am a young South African with endless possibilities. I live in a modern South Africa where a black woman is allowed to make her dreams come true. It’s a great time to be South African; there simply is no better place like ours. This makes me live loudly and proudly South African. 3. Ntokozo “KO” Mdluli I live loudly and proudly South African because I am able to showcase my African hip-hop music. The Skhanda sound was loudly and proudly made by South Africans for South Africans. I am proud of my heritage and my traditions, that’s what sets us apart from the rest of the world and makes me unique. I feel proud representing South Africa to the rest of the world with the music I produce. 4. Fikile “Fix” Moeti Working for a South African radio station such as 5FM is what makes me live loudly South African. September is my birthday month, so days like Heritage Day form a part of my birthday celebration. I consider myself a part of the special day and in some way feel connected to the public holiday. For me, Heritage Day is about loving who we are, love our cultures, traditions and the people in our country. 5. DJ Fresh I live loud because I have been living my dream with passion since I was 13 years old. My wife and I get our children involved with public holidays such as Heritage Day by taking them to museums and other heritage sites so they grow up knowing the importance of our history.
