1. Africa first got to know you on the 2015 edition of Big Brother Mzansi, how did this come about?
The greatest challenge was getting used to living with several other people who all have different personalities, I had to mentally prepare myself for that and adjust to living with others. I learned to accommodate everyone and learned a lot from the crew.
2. What did living in the Big Brother house teach you?
It taught me patience. Since leaving the house, I have learned to be a lot calmer about situations.
3. In the house, you mentioned your family a lot and how you were the breadwinner who had to take care of her kid- sister and mother. How did you manage to take care of things while in the house?
I run a marketing business with my friend. She took care of the company and managed to see that the family was okay while I was in the house.
4. Although everyone came to know you on Big Brother you were in the industry prior to that. What work did you do?
I worked as a reporter for ANN 7, doing current affairs and hard news. I also had a cameo role on Rockville season one and two. Apart from that, I also spent a lot of time on the road with Thembi Seete as one of her dancers.
5. Speaking of Thembi Seete, you networked and met with a lot of musicians while dancing, would you ever be interested in singing?
Most definitely. I have done some singing lessons and have musical interests. Those who know me well are aware of my singing talents. I have had a few requests from other artists asking me to make songs with them. It’s something I would like to do in the near future, but right now, my focus is TV presenting.
6. What is your advice to other young people who want to do what you do?
Networking is key; don’t be afraid to tell people who you are and what you do. For a long time, I would introduce myself as Mbali the girl who works for a corporate marketing company. But I learned to be open about my singing, acting and dancing talents and this opened doors for me.
