The cast of Tempy Pushas is back for season two. Akhumzi and Sdumo talk to us about their time on camera.
Akhumzi Jezile plays Ngulube, a goofy but smart chap, while Pallance and Sdumo are the sexy ones.
Tell us about your character.
Ngulube is a person that seeks approval from other people and does not allow his ‘ambition streak’ to dominate his style of living, to the point that he always puts other people’s dreams and passions before his.
Where did we leave things with you in season 1 and what can fans expect in season 2?
As people get older, individual priorities are more important than collective goals, circumstances are going to push Ngulube into very dark places where greed, betrayal, lies and selfishness will surface. It gets muddy as the three friends pursue individual glory.
It’s all about the hustle in Tempy Pushas, tell us what your real life hustle is?
I’m driven by the world of opportunities that surrounds me every day. My main hustle in life is to build a legacy that will reflect my passions long after I am gone. Passions of growing other people, passion of making things happen, passion of expanding the world of performing arts in media and storytelling through the magic we make on film and television.
Achieving your goals is never easy. How do you overcome the challenges of trying to reach your goals?
I see every hurdle as an opportunity to learn how to jump higher; the higher you can jump, the stronger your ability to fly becomes.
When you’re not acting what are you up to?
I’m a show producer and studio director for Urban Brew Studios; I work on various projects out of the entertainment industry, and I have a concept umbrella company that I own with Pearl Modiadie.
What is next for you?
Big things are well underway for me, both within the world of entertainment and in corporate South Africa. Keep watching the space – I have only just begun!
Sdumo Mtshali plays Kuti Daniels, an orphan adopted by the Daniels family when he was young. He is now in search of his roots.
What is different about Tempy Pushas season 2?
We have a new director and new script writer, which should represent a completely new element. The three characters branch off to follow their own path, and you get to see them all evolve. There are also some new characters to look out for, not to mention my wedding.
Tell us what it was like being on set?
With a new crew came new direction. I loved that we had our own voices, and I loved adding a touch of me on set and with my character.
Why should South Africans watch season two?
We address social issues that affect us as Africans, especially black South Africans. It is a story the nation can relate to. People of all ages and genders will enjoy it and learn a lot from watching the series.
What is your real life hustle?
My life has always been about becoming a better actor and doing more in the industry while maintaining my prestige.
