Award-winning musician Amanda Black released a statement detailing the horrific incident in which she was threatened with a gun at an event over the weekend. The star was booked to perform at the Mapungubwe Arts Festival in Polokwane on the 9th of December alongside artists such as Judith Sephuma and Selaelo Selota.
In the statement, Amanda explains that her performance was moved around numerous times by the event’s organizer. She also alleges that a Limpopo Arts and Culture department official chased her off stage as she was about to perform, slapped one of her band members and then proceeded to threaten them with a gun.
After leaving the venue Amanda and her team opened a case of against the official at Polokwane Police station. The singer explains in her statement that after talking at length with her team, they’ve decided to drop the case and instead, tighten their security to prevent situations like this in the future. She also says that she’s seeking counseling to deal with the trauma of the incident.
