The Amanda du Pont we know now is very different to the one she used to be during her high school days. Amanda took to Instagram to share a picture of herself looking much more fully figured than she is now. Now if that isn’t inspiration for us to get up and get our bodies in better shape, than we don’t know what else will. Say goodbye to that potbelly and hello killer abs by eating correctly and avoiding food that will set your goals back.
Exercises to get six pack abs
Single leg pike sit up: Focuses on the upper and lower stomach area.
Lie on your back, legs straight and arms extended above your head. Without bending your knee lift one leg up as far as it goes. At the same time lift your shoulders off the ground in a sit up motion so that your hands meet your shin at the top of the movement. Return to the starting position and swap legs.
Pike toe touches: Focuses on the upper abdominals.
Lying on your back lift both your legs to make a 90degree angle. Try to keep your knees as straight as possible. Extend your hands towards your toes and then in a sit up motion, try to lift your shoulders off the ground and touch your toes. Return your shoulders to the ground and repeat.
Hollow rocks: The hollow out type of position is really important to keep your core and posterior chain strong
Lie on your back with your legs straight and your arms stretched above your head, hands together. There is a little space in between your lower back and the mat. Lift your feet and shoulders off the floor until the space is gone. Rock back until your tailbone pulls off the floor and then rock the other way until right before your feet touch the ground. Make sure not to lose any tension and to keep your core tight the entire time.
How often: complete three sets of 15-30 repetitions of each exercise every second day. This will give your abdominals a chance to rest and recover before you train them again. A training programme and eating plan designed to drop body fat will compliment this ab routine and get you the abs you’ve always wanted!
