Award-winning director Ava DuVernay has acquired Akin Omotoso‘s coming-of-age feature film, Vaya. The film will was acquired through her company, Array Now, and will be released in the US on 18 October. Ava and Akin shared the exciting news on social media.
The film which stars Warren Masemola and Zimkitha Nyoka tells the story of three strangers on a train to Johannesburg, each on their own mission with a simple task to complete and in search of family to help them. Their journey is met with betrayal from the very people they sought protection from leaving them trapped in the city. The fil has won three awards including the Best Director at the 2017 Africa Movie Awards.
