She is an entrepreneur, owner of a successful clothing brand, mother, reality star and now she can add television producer to her impressive resume. Produced by her own media company Brains at Work media, Dineo and her diary return for season 4 on Vuzu AMP – a move that has unsettled some of her fans.
What should viewers expect on season 4 of Dineo’s Diary?
Expect the regular Dineo, who is a handful and has always been. I have also matured as a human being but critics have also called me obnoxious, so expect that too.
Dineo’s Diary is one of the few reality shows in South Africa to reach season 4 and still maintain its popularity – is there a formula or strategy that you use to maintain that?
Although Dineo’s Diary is the only reality show of its format to go this far, there is no formula. What you see is what you get. As always, I have just been open and honest, even with adding my family to the show because they are just naturally entertaining and sincere.
Was there a time that you felt that Dineo’s Diary was affecting your image negatively?
No, because people will formulate their own opinions by watching the show, whether good or bad. The show is a true reflection of myself. I am an all rounded human being and a true representation of what humans are like, so I don’t see how expressing human emotion can affect one negatively.
What has been your family’s response to the success of Dineo’s Diary?
My father said that now he finally understands what my primary teacher meant when she used to write in my report card “your daughter will go on to paint the town red!”
Will you be as candid about your health issues as you were in previous seasons?
I’ve addressed every health issue I have had, it’s now public knowledge so there is nothing left to address.
Dineo’s Diary is known for its candidness – is there anything you’re keeping private in this season?
I don’t see myself as a celebrity, so there is no reason to hide parts of my life, especially since I star in a reality show.
Who does Dineo make TV for?
I make TV for everyone. I do not limit myself to a certain gender, race or demographic. Even with my production company– Brains at Work Media – I continue to make pictures for everyone.
How has the success of your show affected your family?
It hasn’t affected them at all; actually, I think they were born for this.
What is new with the show in its fourth season?
It is now produced by myself under my company. Catch Dineo’s Diary on Vuzu AMP channel 116 this Friday, April 3rd.
