One Isibaya fan’s dream came true when she got to have dinner with her favourite soapie queen, Jessica Nkosi – the grand prize in our Discover #BONAonline competition.
To celebrate the launch of our brand new website, www.bona.co.za, we ran two weeks of fabulous giveaways where our readers had to search BONA’s website for answers to stand a chance to win a dinner date with Isibaya’s Qondi, Jessica Nkosi.
Our winner Winnie Manyama, 24, a Publications Intern at Human Science Research Council: AISA from Giyani, brought along her bestie and fellow Isibaya fan Pamela Morwane for the occasion and both ladies got to dine with their favourite actress at Sandton’s trendiest hot spot, The Maslow Hotel
BONA’s Digital Editor, Amanda Ndlangisa and Features Editor, Phila Tyekana, joined the ladies for dinner at The Maslow’s sophisticated urban bistro, The Lacuna.
Winnie was a bit shy at first, but with Jessica’s bubbly personality, it was a matter of time before she came around. The evening was filled with fun and laughter as we spoke about everything under the sun, from our favourite musicians, to celeb gossip, to life behind the scenes on Isibaya.
The hotel spoilt our dinner party with these pretty welcome drinks followed by a superb bottle of red wine. Their beef proved to be the meal of the evening as Jessica ordered a beef fillet with veggies while chuckling about how she would start her diet the following day because she couldn’t resist their food, and our winner ordered rice with beef strips.
The Food
The Dessert
The dinner was only supposed to last for about two hours, but because of the amazing company, great service by the Maslow hotel and out of this world food, the dinner went on for four hours. We weren’t complaining!
Winnie on meeting her idol:
Bona: What did you love most about the dinner?
Winnie: Meeting Jessica, sitting next to her and talking to her. It felt like a dream.
Bona: Why did you enter the competition?
Winnie: Because I love Jessica and Qondi, I wanted to meet Jessica, spend some time with her and I am happy I won, I got to sit with her and the Bona team for few hours and it was amazing.
Bona: How was Jessica Nkosi?
Winnie: I love how friendly and outspoken she is, she is such a beautiful person. When I left home I asked myself whether I will be meeting a sweet person or a drama queen, but I was ready for anything. She is such a lovely person. I can have dinner with her again if I had a chance. [Laughs]
Bona: What do you love most about our new site?
Winnie: It is so fresh and simple, user friendly, I can access it on my phone too and I like the new features.
Bona: What kind of articles do you enjoy reading on our site?
Winnie: Celebrity interviews, I like the man crush feature and the career advice section. I find it useful as I am still new in the workplace, the job that I am doing is my first, so I read that section a lot.
Bona: How did you find the dinner overall?
Winnie: Meeting Jessica was the highlight of my night. Everyone was so funny and friendly, the conversation was so interesting and the dinner was amazing. I enjoyed every moment!
