The members of the royal family are all getting ready for King Charles III’s coronation, all except Meghan Markle.
After months of speculation, it was eventually confirmed that Prince Harry would, in fact, be attending his father’s coronation. However, the same can’t be said about the current Duchess of Sussex. Some assume the reason is partially due to her own children’s exclusion from royal festivities as well as their son’s birthday being on the same day as the coronation, but the reason seems to be a bit more personal than that. According to InStyle, a source close to the couple told People that the real reason why Meghan had decided to skip the big day was because of something to do with the media and widespread public scrutiny.
“Meghan wants to be there to support her father-in-law, but at the same time, the scrutiny she receives outweighs the support,” the insider said. “There’s always going to be that other side challenging their reasoning, and who wants to put themselves in that position?
Meghan Markle has long been a victim of scrutiny from the British general public, with articles detailing and analysing her every move, much to her dismay. Unable to catch a break, it’s completely understandable why she decided against attending this royal ceremony. As of writing, there are already countless articles and posts claiming that her lack of attendance will have serious repercussions. Hopefully, Meghan will have a great time celebrating Archie’s upcoming birthday in their home state of California.
