Crown Gospel Awards founder and media personality Zanele Mbokazi has announced a 16th return of the prestigious gospel awards.
First gracing our television screens in year 2007, the gospel awards have grown intensively, putting one of Mzansi’s most supported music genres on top of the music charts. The awards which would have initially to be held at Soweto’s Orlando stadium will now take place at the city’s FNB Soccer City stadium, on Sunday Nov 26th.
Visiting Metro FM’s Touch Down radio show, Zanele Mbokazi shared the journey it has taken from the first awards to now, adding that God had been at play through the years as they kept rising, securing major sponsors who have stuck with them for many years.
SABC, a major sponsor and partner of “Grammys of gospel music in South Africa” has been with the awards since the beginning. This year’s show will however not be shared on TV something which might disappoint gospel lovers.
Zanele also shared that the SABC Crown Gospel Awards also held a gospel talent show looking for Mzansi’s fresh talent in order to grow the genre further.
Sharing the SABC Crown Talent Show’s winner Sifiso Mabuza’s journey, the SABC Crown Awards captioned their post:
“In the darkest moments of his life, Sifiso Mabuza clung to this guiding verse. He bravely shared a touching story of relocating from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng, starting anew with his siblings from scratch. Today, Sifiso is a rose that emerged from the concrete ? ? ?. His journey, marked by a severe sports injury, turned out to be a divine call into the ministry of worship. Sifiso’s resilience and faith have crowned him the winner of the Gospel Dreams Talent Search 2023 ?✨. No matter where you are or who you are, draw strength from Sifiso’s story. Don’t give up, for the Lord God Almighty will usher you into #ANewSeason of blessings sooner than you can imagine. ?? .”
