Meet the lucky ladies that got a chance to share the Bona May cover with Dineo Moeketsi, Beauty Magic Ambassador.
Last year we launched a competition where readers stood a chance to share the Bona Magazine cover with the beautiful Dineo Moeketsi, face of Beauty Magic. Entrants had to send in selfies holding their favourite Beauty Magic product.
After going through hundreds of entries from lovely ladies all over the country, we finally found our three deserving winners and now it’s your chance to get to know them better.
MEET THE BEAUTY MAGIC WINNERS
Nomakhuze Ndabula
Nomakhuze also known as Khuzline, 31, hails from Eastern Cape, but grew up in Johannesburg, (East Rand). A singer by profession, she has worked with artists like the Late Vuyo Mokoena, Rebbeca Malope, Bishop Benjamin Dube and the legend Tshepo Tshola. We get to know Nomakhuze a little bit more.
My fashion style varies daily. I can be anything I feel like being. One thing about me, I’m not afraid of trying and embracing different styles in this beautiful land of ours. I’m very open-minded when it comes to style and fashion.
To me, beauty means being grounded and knowing who you are. There is nothing more painful than not knowing your value in life. If one is happy from within then their beauty shines through for everyone to see.
My beauty routine: I try to eat healthy as much as possible, I love my beauty sleep and I make sure my face is washed twice a day (I don’t sleep with makeup) and scrub twice a week. Water is a dear friend to me, so I also drink lots of it just to keep my skin glowing.
My favourite Beauty Magic product must be the Mattifying Moisturiser because it keeps my skin healthy, soft and radiant, and it’s perfect for my delicate skin.
The most challenging part of the shoot was the fact that is was my very first modelling gig, but it was very exciting to see a camera up close capturing my every move! It dawned on me that my modelling career has begun! (Laughs)
The most amazing part of this whole experience was meeting the beautiful Dineo Moeketsi, being pampered for a day was lovely and interacting with the friendly Beauty Magic and Bona staff and my fellow cover girls.
But the best part of all of this was the actual prize. Being on the cover of one of the oldest magazines in South Africa and I got to keep the jewellery I wore on the shoot which I love! I’m a jewellery girl. Such beautiful gifts indeed.
Vanessa Plaatjie
This 23 year old, Miss North West 2013, hasn’t always had a great life, having her parents separate at a young age. But that didn’t let it stop her from going for her dreams. Vanessa was born and raised in Makifeng by a single mother but soon had to live away from her, which meant she had to grow up faster than most. Vanessa lets us in on the woman she’s become.
My beauty routine is putting a smile on my face, I drink a lot of water, avoid acidic drinks, eat at least two veggies with every meal, do 30 sit-ups every morning and of course using my Beauty Magic range every day.
I have two favourite Beauty Magic products: the Vanishing Cream because it makes my skin look flawlessly even with no shine and the Mattifying Moisturiser that makes my skin feel moist and fresh.
For me, beauty means feeling great in my own skin and being confident. When I feel beautiful, I feel like I can take on anything that life throws at me.
I had so much fun at the Bona Beauty Magic shoot! My favourite part was that from the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with so much warmth and kindness, the entire team made me feel comfortable. But what I enjoyed the most was seeing what make-up artists Lucoh Mhlongo, Voyo Varoyi and stylist Jerry Mokgofe did with me! They transformed me into a real super model celebrity!
But the best part of all of this was the actual prize… I was so excited to open my goodie bag of Beauty Magic products. And as for the cover shoot with Dineo Moeketsi, I really appreciate the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It is such a big deal for me, I hope this will unlock many doors for me and be the first of many great things to come. Not everyone gets to be on the cover of Bona Magazine, not even all celebrities, and for that I am deeply humbled.
Karabo Dlamini
This 20 year old is a bubbly, humble, fun, independent and ambitious lady. She was born and raised in Johannesburg East where she now works at an interior decorating and project Management Company called Visual Arts Interiors, as a model. She tells us more about her life.
My beauty routine would be washing my face before bed at night, and then applying a mask, cleansing, steaming, and toning at least 2 to 3 times a week.
My favourite Beauty Magic product would be the Cleansing Tonic because of how it purifies my skin and helps removes dark spots. My skin glows when I use it!
Beauty to me means: being confident about who you are, accepting what you cannot change, being able to let your inner beauty shine through. And being humble… you can never go wrong with being humble for that leads to a golden heart that shines through your eyes. Now that’s what I call beauty!
I enjoyed everything about the Bona Beauty Magic shoot, but my highlights would be finally meeting the Bona and Beauty Magic Dream Team, being treated like a celebrity and of course being given the opportunity to work my magic in front of the camera with Dineo Moeketsi.
The most memorable part of the shoot though was literally everything. From the make-up and hair by the lovely Lucoh Mhlongo, to the stunning gowns by the sweet and kind fashion stylist Jerry Mokgofe dressing us up in David Tlale designs. And the humorous photographer, Jurie Potgieter, he made life so much simpler for us the day of the shoot, he was fun to work with, he made it seem like we were the pro’s! I really cannot express my gratitude to all of them, they rock! However the most memorable and stand out moment was meeting Beauty Magic’s ambassador, Dineo Moeketsi! She is the sweetest celebrity I’ve met, her beauty is inside and out. It was lovely chatting to her and she made it so easy for us to work with her on the shoot. She has such a selfless personality!
The prizes from Beauty Magic were the icing on top! I loved what I won. Beauty Magic sure knows how to put a smile on a girl’s face!
