Khanyi is one of the ladies who tops beauty lists and we are not surprised. Our cover star opens up about what beauty is to her.
The beauty I paid for…
My lashes are stick-on, which are great to apply, remove and won’t damage my own lashes. My eyebrows are natural. They look fuller and elongated because I had a procedure where they took hair from the back of my head and filled them. I did the same procedure for my hairline.
The beauty trends I am looking out for are…
Any beauty that starts from within is where TQ is heading and excited about. Gone are the days where people wore heavy make-up. It’s all about flawless skin and good brows. Taking care of your health will help you look beautiful, so I’m into anything that will give my skin a natural glow, whiter teeth and clearer eyes.”
My big eyes are not a flaw….
Yes, I know I have big eyes; and at times they restrict me when it comes to certain trends like a heavy-winged eye. That’s a great look, but it doesn’t suit my round eyes. However, I love the smokey eyes when done properly by a make-up artist because it enhances the eye and the colour pops.
Red is a power colour…
Red for me is Coco Chanel – very classy and elegant, and the new me can relate. Red has become a dominating colour for my lips and nails because I love keeping my face clean so these become the focus points.
I needed a good change for my skin…
There are great products on shelves to cater for our skin, but after six months they become dormant and you need to change in order for your skin problems to be catered for. I got tired of changing so I took matters into my own hands and had products made to cater for the black woman who lives under the harsh African sun and daily stresses in our country.
Dear younger me…..
I wish I drank more water, lots to help keep my body and skin hydrated. It may not be the best taste around, but it’s needed to keep the beauty inside out. No matter how tired you are, don’t sleep with make-up because it damages the skin. Sleep is not for the lazy, but for good skin. When your body rests it functions well and a healthier you is a beautiful you.
Nail shapes have changed….
I was and still am a square-shaped nail girl. Stiletto nails are just not for me.
My daughter is…
My princess who is big on beauty and wants gloss, blush, nails and lashes. During school holidays we play with nail polish.
When it comes to my hair…
I think for now, I will always be a weave girl, and wear my natural hair at home and when I am ‘out of office’. I work in an industry where I need to blow dry, straighten, iron and do more to be photo ready, which is not good for our natural hair. Our hair is weak and too much heat will damage it.
Dear Kardashians…
Please give your skin a break from the make-up. Yes, you look good but everyone’s skin needs to breathe; so it would be great to see you ‘wake up’ on your reality show without make-up.
Hi Beyoncé…
High five to you and your make-up artist. You always look effortlessly good; the natural beauty look is flawless.
