He’s not just a handsome face with an amazing body, but also one of South Africa’s leading male actors. He tells us about the new movie he is in Hard to Get, his role in Rhythm City and a new projects he is working on.
GROWING UP
I was very shy as a child. But as soon as I got to high school, I had to find a way to break out of that shell. Especially being in a boy’s only school. I was forced to be a little bit more masculine to survive. I was also very curious about everything and looked for a way to express myself. I used to dance, play rugby and go to the gym a lot. Despite being reckless at times I have grown to let that side of me go and have become very spiritual. God exists in everything and that is important to me, and believing in this, helps me grow stronger every day.
ACTING
I’ve always wanted to act. Exploring the business side of things is something that I’m also looking to do in future. I would like to get into producing, writing and maybe even directing.
MY BACKGROUND IN THE ARTS
It is very important to have experience in what you do. It is important to stay curious and keep growing in what you do. It is also important to expose yourself to what the world has to offer.
THE CLASS ACT EXPEREINCE
Class Act is a platform that helps new artists get exposure. If you are already established as an actor, then there’s no need for that. I’m grateful to Class Act for granting me that opportunity to showcase my talents.
FROM ISIBAYA TO RHYTHM CITY
My move has been extremely thrilling. It felt great, coming into a show that is already well established. It’s like a moving train, that I just had to jump onto. The story is different, the character is different and I have to portray a different voice, to a completely different audience. As artists, we all need change now and again. I have the opportunity to work with people like Bra Peter Se Puma and Mduduzi Mabaso (just to mention a few), these are people that I’ve always looked up to for inspiration.
HARD TO GET
The movie is a love story set in Johannesburg’s crime underworld. The film tells the story of TK, a handsome young womaniser from a small community who falls for a sexy, reckless thief nicknamed “Skiets”.
WHY PEOPLE SHOULD WATCH THE NEW MOVIE
If no one watches our local movies, our industry will die. We need to make sure that we keep our industry alive. We need to make sure that we keep enough bums on those seats. The genre of the movie is something different for our country. And as much as it appeals internationally, it still has the ability to stay true to itself. Stay true to the fact that it is South African. It has great cast members, awesome directors and it showcases what’s happening in our country today.

MY ADVICE TO THOSE INTERESTED IN ACTING
Make sure that it is something you want to do because it’s a passion. It needs to be a feeling that lives within you and speaks to you. Fame or money should come last. Always think carefully about why you want to come into the industry in the first place. You need to find a way to always empathise with different people. Put yourself in their shoes to play your character to its best.
Always have a grasp or understanding of the business aspect of acting.
BALANCING LIFE WITH WORK
I try my best to separate the two. But it gets really hard sometimes. When you leave work at the end of the day, being an actor, you know that your day doesn’t end there. You are always a representative of the show or character that you’re playing. That’s who you will always be in the eyes of the viewers. Understand and deal with the fact that your privacy will always be invaded.
IN MY SPARE TIME
I Work out, read, watch movies, listen to music and hang out with friends and family.
