7 DE LAAN ACTRESS, SALAMINA MOSESE
Advice for moms who want their kids to be famous
As parents, one of the hardest things for us to do is let our kids have their own dreams. When parents ask me whether it is a good idea to introduce their kids to TV, I ask them if this is not a case of them living their dream through their kids or whether their child really wishes to follow this line of work. Also parents need to be aware that it’s very time consuming taking kids to auditions, so they need to be willing to make those sacrifices should they find that their little ones really love the industry and actually book the work.
ROCKVILLE’S ENHLE MBALI MLOTSHWA
Advice for step-parents
A lot of step-parents put so much pressure on themselves to be the perfect parent. I say take it easy. Step-parenting is not easy for the parent and the kids; having two moms or dads can be confusing for them. Try to build a strong relationship with your kids and take everyone’s feelings into consideration, including the biological parent if they are still in the picture.
TV PERSONALITY, DINEO RANAKA
Advice for single moms
Pray. Get over the “single parent” pity party. Work hard. See a therapist if need be to get “stuff” off your chest. Date date date! Put your kids first and spoil yourself when you can. Pray.
ETV’S RHYTHM CITY ACTRESS, NOLO PHIRI.
Advice for new moms
Motherhood isn’t meant to feel like labour (excuse the pun). Embrace it and more importantly, celebrate yourself for giving the world a new gift. Don’t judge yourself too much, you’re not meant to be perfect all of a sudden.
GENERATIONS’ ACTRESS, XOLI ZONDI
Advice for young moms
As young moms we often feel like we don’t have much say in our children’s life because we are young and might have other people taking care of our children. Don’t let anyone else mother your child. Accept and appreciate the help they offer you, but when it comes to your child’s life, take a stand. You will make mistakes, but that’s part of parenting, no one is perfect.
MODEL AND PRESENTER, PHUMEZA DLWATI
Advice for new moms
When it comes to babies, everyone knows best. You can literally go crazy and it’s confusing when everyone has something to say and their information is contradicting. Listen to what everyone says, but use what works best for you and your child. Follow your natural motherly instincts. No one knows what’s best for your baby but you.
ACTRESS, THULI THABETHE
Advice for co-parenting parents
Try to get over whatever issues you had before the break up. You need to respect and communicate with each other. You also need to give the other person some space in terms of how they raise the child, don’t question their actions. Having a baby with someone is like signing a lifetime commitment because the child will always be part of you. You trusted him with the child when you were still together, try and find that trust now and things will look up.
CLUB 808 PRESENTER, NONHLE THEMA
Advice for new moms
Be prepared, birth can be so scary. People will tell you a lot of stories, it will also help to listen to your elders but the most important thing is for you to do your own research. Go to antenatal classes, go to the clinic when you’re supposed to and most importantly, pray, because after all, birth is a miracle.
