There are plenty of excitingly evil characters on TV. These female villains are some of our favourite.
Mampho Brescia as Iris on Isibaya
We see why Mampho got nominated for a Royalty Soapie Award as most outstanding villain on a soapie. Mampho plays Iris, the only legal wife of three to her husband. She’s been on the show since it started, and she clearly loves it. “I love what I’m doing right now and I love Iris. I’m so happy Isibaya producers chose me to play her. I feel like I’m thriving in her skin. Most people call me Iris even off-screen. I speak and look like her; the truth is, I have to be like Iris.” She told BONA last year.
Kgomosto Christopher as Katlego on Isidingo
When it comes to protecting her own, no one on Isidingo can hold it down as Katlego. Kgomotso plays the ruthless, selfish wife who only cares about herself and money. She does have a sweet side to her though, but we love the evil persona more – it makes for good for TV!
Dawn Mathews as Shakira on Scandal!
We love how Shakira has grown on Scandal! over the years. She’s moved from playing that girl who was in love with her brother, and did anything to be with him, to now being a ruthless and imprisoned mother and wife. Watching her on Scandal!, we think Dawn would fit on Orange is the New Black.
Mapaseka Koetle as Dintle on Scandal!
Dintle is manipulative, deceitful and devious. She’s more interested in money and living a nice life. But, she’s also very clever, street-wise and a go-getter. Considering that this is Mapaseka’s first big role, we take off our hats to her excellent performance.
Denise Zimba as Mary on Generations: The Legacy
There would never be a better villain on Generations than Ntsiki, played by Pamela Nomete. But, Denise deserves props for trying to match Pamela’s viciousness. Denise plays Mary, a girl who’s deeply in love, and ready to manipulate anyone to get what she wants.
