Rapper Rouge, real name Deko Barbara-Jessica Wedi, tells us what to expect in her new album titled The New Era Sessions.
1. I’ve been in the music industry for three years. My music is now more meaningful. I have matured, and am bolder in my creative process as I have stopped being scared of people’s reaction to my music. I’m ready for the world to hear what I have to offer.
2. The theme for this project is based on being understood on a futuristic scale. My aim was to create an album that would last in the heart and mind of the listener as I didn’t want it to sound anything like today’s music. I’m thinking about the future, and have even released a film with the same title to ensure longevity.
3. People can expect a lot of storytelling in this album. Through my lyricism, I tell stories of love and women empowerment over trap and old-school, hip-hop beats. I share a personal side that I hope listeners will identify with. I’m excited about this project and feel positive about it.
