Terry Pheto shares a heartfelt message about her Bona shoot

Our incredibly talented cover star, Terry Pheto lost her father earlier this year and the funeral was only two days before her shoot for our cover.

The star who’s currently in the US for the promotion of her latest project, the BET series Madiba starring Laurence Fishburne shared this really poignant message about shooting the cover and how she coped.

They say True Strength is smiling when you want to cry, laughing to hide the pain, and going on, no matter what… I shot this @bona_mag cover two days after we laid my dad to rest. The lump in my throat made it almost impossible to smile but I chose to remember the funny moments I had with my dad and I “laughed my pain away” for a moment… I knew I had to be present for this moment. All of me, broken as I was. For that, I’m truly grateful. My point is: it doesn’t matter how hard life can be, always find a moment to smile and give thanks.
