On Tuesday night the Confederation of African Football Awards were hosted in Dakar, Senegal where Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis and football forward Thembi Kgatlana represented South Africa very well.
Being the top scorer at the Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana after scoring five goals, Banyana Banyana’s football forward Thembi Kgatalana is a 22-year-old emerging soccer star we definitely need to be keeping our eyes on.
Thembi Kgatlana named Women’s player of the year
She walked away with Women’s player of the year as well as Goal of the year at the CAF Awards in Dakar. And in case you were wondering which of her awe striking goals bagged her the goal of the year award, it would have to be her strikingly beautiful goal against Nigeria at Banyana’s AWCON opening group stage match where they walked away with a 1-0 victory.
Congratulations to these two superstars and inspiration…you are awesome Thembi and Des!! pic.twitter.com/kcbPhBA3Ux
