WATCH: Cici opens up about her journey to healing

by All4Women
Cici

Even though it’s been over a year since Cici first spoke out about allegedly being abused by ex-boyfriend Arthur Mafokate, the road to recovery is a difficult one.

Cici struggled to fight back tears during a recent interview on Trending SA when she was asked about her healing process.

“I am healing but it’s a bit difficult because you have to go to court and it’s like a back and forth,” she said.

Cici laid charges of assault against Arthur and the matter is currently being heard by the courts.

The singer said that, even though it was difficult for her to speak out about the alleged abuse, she wanted to be an example for people who looked up to her.

“I remember coming out and people were like: ‘Aren’t you scared, you’re a celebrity’ and I was like: ‘before I’m a celebrity, I’m actually human’. The people that actually follow my music need to understand that we are human and we experience the same things that they go through and so I would’ve not done justice to the people to not come out and speak out about this,” she said.

When asked about the abuse allegations surrounding Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha’s relationship, Cici said it was up to Babes to take a stand

“They’re not personal friends of mine, I wasn’t aware, but I’ve heard, but I thought, people in the industry just talk, but at the end of the day, for me it’s up to Babes Wodumo… the ball is in her court, we can be behind her and say all the things but if she’s not saying anything then all that we do is in vain… it’s up to her.”
