Actress and women’s rights activist Tracee Elliss Ross delivered a stirring talk at the TED2018 Conference in Canada. The Black-Ish star titled her talk “A woman’s fury holds a lifetime of wisdom” where she encourages women to acknowledge and set free the fury they have of men helping themselves to women’s bodies without their consent.
“Women, I encourage you to acknowledge your fury. Give it a language. Share it in safe places of identification and in safe ways. Your fury is not something to be afraid of. It holds lifetimes of wisdom. Let it breathe and listen,” she said.
Tracee began her talk by sharing a story about a friend of hers, an elderly woman who was at the post office filling up a form when a man physically put his hands on her and moved her out of the way to get to what he wanted and simply leaving after the fact. Tracee says her friend felt shocked at first, and then a fury rose in her.
Here’s what she had to say.
