ADVANCING THE MINING INDUSTRY BY INVESTING IN THE RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING OF WOMEN
The mining industry continues to be perceived as an industry that is not favourable to women. Although legislation has been set in place to ensure a minimum quota of 10% of mining roles are filled by women, various mining houses face the task of retaining women in the industry, and have since introduced a number of career developing initiatives to ensure women reach their full potential within the industry.
Intelligence Transfer Centre (ITC) will be hosting the annual Women In Mining Conference for the 8th consecutive year. This year the conference takes place on 22, 23 & 24 February 2017 at Gallagher Estate, Midrand under the overall theme “moving from the integration to the development of women in mining”.
The speaker faculty consists of notable international speaker Cynthia Carroll as well as local representation from Western Cape Department of Mineral Resources, Anglo Thermal, Mintek, Petra Diamonds, Palabora Copper (PTY) Ltd, Lafarge Mining & Avita Mining just to name a few.
The agenda for the conference will empower women to have a leadership mentality, provide tips on becoming an SMME supplier and also share successes made over the years.
