South African actress, YouTuber and director Stephanie Ndlovu is someone who has shared a fair share of her life with her supporters and subscribers.
Stephanie along with her content creator and actor husband, Hungani Ndlovu, have normalised the concept of not just sharing their craft on screen but also sharing the challenges that they have faced as professionals, a young married couple and parents.
Having Stephanie as a guest on her podcast is Mapaseka ‘Pasi’ Koetle who is a familiar face that has shared a professional ground with the couple. Pasi is popularly known for portraying the character of Dintle Nyathi on the Etv soap opera, Scandal.
The podcast titled Mommy Dairies creates dialogues on all aspects of motherhood. The episode that featured Stephanie focused particularly on baby blues and postpartum depression.
Touching on being a mother, Stephanie shared “I think I am navigating this thing called motherhood. Further explaining “it changes all the time, it’s never the same today or tomorrow. Sometimes I just think we are winging it.”
Stephanie makes mention that sometimes the goal of motherhood is to simply just ensure that you’re keeping your child alive as the journey of motherhood can at times be quite overwhelming.
Making mention of her many roles, Stephanie explains her involvement in the MTV Foundation as she takes on the title of MTV Staying Alive Foundation Co-Chair.
“We advocate for young people and their sexual reproductive health, rights and we give them tools to that that these are your options that you have when it comes to mental health gender based violence. Everything that has to do with young people and not just their sexual reproductive health but also their behaviour and behaviour change,” she explained.
Stephanie highlights that she has always been nurturer to such an extent that even her family members thought she’d be the first to have a soccer team of kids.
Explaining her birth experience as “an outer body experience” Stephanie mentions that she experience many emotions until she heard her baby girl cry.
Describing her postpartum experience, she says “it was so overwhelming that I honestly could feel myself sinking into this state of being completely overwhelmed.”
Stephanie shares that she had many doubts such as “do I have a connection with my child, am I just going through the emotions,” she shared.
“After the first few weeks after giving birth, I have new found respect for moms because wow,” exclaimed Stephanie.
