It seems as if the second season of the South African series Shaka iLembe is going to be delayed after two deaths occurred during the shoot.
Shaka iLembe is a South African television series that premiered in 2023 and tells the story of King Shaka of the Zulu Kingdom. The series stars Nomzamo Mbatha as Queen Nandi KaBhebhe, Senzo Radebe as King Senzangakhona kaJama, and Lemohang Tsipa as Shaka Kasenzangakhona. The show explores the making of the iconic African king, from his childhood to adulthood, during the 1700s.
According to the news publication, ZiMoja, there was an incident of food poisoning on set and two people from the crew died, a make-up artist and someone else whose identity has not been disclosed.
The source who spoke to the publication also shared that the incident is being kept confidential because they did not want the media to pry given the fact that there is already too much drama that can compromise season two.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) MDN News shared the news and X users took to the comment section to share their thoughts:
Please note that “Food Poisoning” doesn’t necessarily mean that someone put poison on the food to kill people.
Generally, food poisoning refers to the contamination of food by toxins which could be due to hygiene, expired food etc.
