Songstress Nhlanhla Mafu is popularly known as the lead singer and one half of the South African pop duo, Mafikizolo. The group which initially started off as a group of three lost their third member, Tebego Madingoane in 2004.
In the late 90s and early 2000s, the musical group rose to fame as they took over the music scenes in South Africa. They produced songs such as Ndihamba nawe, Udakwa njalo, Emlanjeni and many more others. To this day, the duo remains one of Mzansi’s favourites and most popular pop duo as they have produced some of South Africa’s most nostalgic sounds.
The duo has stood the test of time and are still making moves within the music industry of South Africa. The two have been awarded numerous awards such as the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Group, South African Music Award for Duo or Group of the Year, South African Music Awards for Best Pop Album and many more.
Celebrated for many of her achievements, Nhlanhla was also the first South African female entertainer to appear on the cover of Forbes Woman Magazine.
With nearly 3 decades of being in the music industry, majority of those years entailed her being the face of Mafikizolo, Nhlanhla is a highly admired public figure who is somewhat ageing backwards, always gracing social media platforms and our TV screens with her trendy fashion sense. Her love for fashion has produced her business and fashion brand labelled NN Vintage. The musician and businesswoman started NN Vintage in 2007.
In a recent Instagram post, Nhlanhla shared images of her stay in Cairo, sharing that embarking on a journey to the Egyptian soil has always been a dream she has longed for, she took to Instagram to share her enthusiasm.
