Model and media personality Refilwe Modiselle expressed nothing but gratitude after sharing her latest acting gig in the theatre production of For Colored Girls.
Based on American playwright and poet Ntozake Shange’s work, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, shortened to For Colored Girls, consists of a series of poetic monologues accompanied by dance movements and music.
The Johannesburg Theatre took to social media to announce the premiere of the production in South Africa.
“This marks the first-ever performance of this impactful production in South African theatres, adding a significant and eagerly awaited cultural moment to the countryβs theatrical landscape,” they wrote.
Refilwe reshared the post on her own Instagram account, writing, “When you are a manifestation of your grandparents & parents relentless prayers. Another historical first unfolding in various ways with incredible people β₯οΈπ₯ππππΌββοΈ. This is how I end off this rollercoaster year & welcome the beginning of a new year.Β #Gratitude π¦β¨π€π―οΈππ»π§π»ββοΈπ.”

The South African adaptation is directed by multi-award-winning seasoned director James Ngcobo, while the person responsible for the choreography is none other than So You Think You Can DanceΒ South Africa season two winner, Lulu Mlangeni.
Refilwe will be joined by cast members Boitumelo Lesejane, Danica Jones, Lerato Mvelase, Swankie Mafoko, Siobhan King, Thuto Gaasenwe and Siphesihle Ndaba.
The show is set to run from 16 February to 3 March 2024 at the Joburg Theatre.
