Ayanda Ncwane has been a trending topic since sharing videos on her social media of her YouTube episodes that are centred on God bringing her to the land of the living in order to bear testimony of His greatness.
The late Sfiso Ncwane’s wife is now embroiled in a non-payment scandal after his former group leader of Abathandwa accused her of owing them royalties.
In an interview with Sunday World, the group’s leader Percy Nyoka explained that they only dealt with the season 1’s RHODurban star after her husband’s passing, adding that they were not even given contracts to sign.
He shared:
“There were no contracts because Sifiso said he wanted to groom us and when he passed on, his wife took over… She said she will empower us and [that] Ncwane Communications is our home. We did not know that there will be technical implications because she now became this big messiah and saviour of our careers. Someone who is going to take us places. So we believed her and respected her so much.”
The publication also states that the Abathandwa lead singer expressed that the relationship started off well with more mention of empowerment. He also added that they had hopes of learning a lot about the industry as they are young and eager to learn. He commented, “We thought we were going to learn a lot of things because we are quite active and we are eager to learn. The opportunity we were given did not come with a contract, the conversation was that they wanted to empower us.”
Speaking of what he believes they are owed, the lead singer and composer added:
“Ayanda is the one who knows everything regarding Abathandwa payments and royalties because everything is with her… As I speak to you now as a composer for our songs, I have not received a cent in royalties. I would always ask and that will end up in fights.”
Percy also mentioned that no royalties or song share money was received from Ncwane Communications except for a payment of R300 00 that they received in 2020.
