The day that most South African football lovers have been waiting for has finally come where our soccer boys Bafana Bafana will be battling for a spot in the AFCON 2023 finals in a match against Nigeria later today, in Ivory Coast.
Bafana Bafana qualified for the semifinals when they won 2-1 in a penalty shoot-out against Cape Verde the past weekend. It was the four penalties saved by the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, who wears the crown of captain of the team, Ronwen Williams that gave mzansi hope that our boys had a stronger chance of bringing the cup home.
If coach Hugo Broos’ boys win against Nigeria today, they will go on to face the winning team between host city Ivory Coast and DR Congo who are also set to play today at 22h00.
Mzansi took to social media platforms to form a #BafanaPride where they display their full support of Bafana Bafana.
On X, a platform formerly known as Twitter Mzansi internet users shared the following messages of support:
Ladies and gentlemen, It is another Wednesday to witness a Bafana Bafana masterclass. The Nigerians you see today shall be no more. Let’s go!!ππ pic.twitter.com/V0vgm613Ro

Please pray for Bafana Bafana. We need this win. We need our South African citizens to believe in our national soccer team again. Even if it means we lose in the finals, I just want to see us there π

Some schools also rallied behind Bafana Bafana getting learners to don Bafana Bafana colours.
