On May 10, at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, the world tour, which is being organized by Parkwood Entertainment and sponsored by Live Nation, will kick off in Europe.
The 2023 tour will take place only a few weeks after the singer made a surprise return to the stage for a private show in Dubai, the footage of which was leaked and set social media app TikTok ablaze.
The musician’s seventh studio album, “Renaissance,” which has received accolades and reached the top of the charts, was released at the end of July. The album, which draws inspiration from pioneers in black and queer dance music culture, is vying for album of the year honors at this year’s Grammy Awards, which will take place on Sunday in Los Angeles.
The artist draws heavily from influences in Africa, in her music and visuals but African countries are unfortunately not on Queen B’s itinerary this year – again. Many of her African fans are highly disappointed and those who can afford are already planning on going to watch her perform in other countries.
She has only come to South Africa as part of two festivals – the 46664 Nelson Mandela tribute concert in Cape Town in 2003 when she was still a member of Destiny’s Child, and then again the Global Citizen concert in Johannesburg in 2018 – and never had a leg of a world tour on the continent.
