Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) finalist and dancer Musa Motha wowed the judges with his stellar performance, so much so that he made history by getting the first-ever Group Golden Buzzer! His achievement made many South Africans proud, even the country’s Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture Zizi Kodwa.
27-year-old Musa relocated to London, England, and is a dancer at the Rambert Dance Company. The dancer shared that at a young age, he was diagnosed with bone cancer which led to the amputation of his left leg.
“I was a football player before I got amputated. After my amputation, I fell in love with music,” Musa told the BGT auditorium. “My friends, they were dancing at that time. I asked them to teach me how to dance.”
He then added, “I am in my favourite country, England. This is the perfect time for me to actually reach out to more people and inspire a lot of people out there.”
The history-making dancer has also appeared in British Vogue as one of the many cover stars for the magazine’s May 2023 issue.

Not many people were too thrilled with the tweet. One user said, “The problem with your statement is that, you and your government have zero strategy in identifying Musa’s of this country. Look, you only got to know about this Musa because of the platform he was in…what about the other Musa’s who are still battling in townships and rural?”

Another user said, “Yhooo hayi suka. This guy had no support from your ministry when he performed here for years. Suddenly he is representing SA? What about those performers who can’t leave the country? They will suffer forever?”

“Sit down, Minister. Stop thieving even the glory of another. This is not your moment. Musa did this himself,” wrote another user.

This is not your moment. Musa did this himself.
As Minister, you have enough opportunity to actually do the right things for our sportstars and artists.
Well done, Musa.
