Renowned rapper and philanthropist Siyabibga Nene popularly known as Big Zulu is eager to take his annual celebrity soccer event to cities all across South Africa.
The Donsa Nkabi hitmaker is set to host this year’s celebrity games at KwaZwelithini stadium in Umlazi, Durban on the 21 July.
While the tournament sees public figures from all walks of life battle it out to walk out victorious, this year the rapper has shared that he is keen to get actors involved in the fun.
Following the success of the gospel team at last year’s game he spoke to the entertainment publication TshisaLive where he said the following:
“In 2022, amapiano team got knocked out and last year we saw the gqom team packing up early in the tournament. The tournament is made up of four teams from different genres, now with both amapiano and gqom out.”
With the event taking place in Johannesburg for most of the time, he later revealed his decision for switching cities, and hosting it in Durban. In his interview he said he wanted to make it a national event.
“We didn’t want this game to be classified as a Johannesburg celebrity games event, so we’ll go to Limpopo, Western Cape, Northern Cape, North West etc.”
Meanwhile, his advice to all those who will be participating in the sports day, is that they have to get themselves fit and in shape to ensure that they give fans in attendance a proper show.
