Bishop becomes new executive producer of Crown Gospel Awards

by Sergio Miller

Following the passing of his loving wife Zanele Mbokazi, it was recently announced that Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule will be taking over the role of his late wife by becoming the executive producer of the Crown Gospel Music Awards.

According to the news and entertainment publication, Daily Sun, the announcement was made at a media briefing held at the SABC offices held in Durban on Tuesday, 10 September.

This came at a time when there has been much uncertainty about the longevity of the award ceremony which has long been a platform for gospel artists to be recognised for their contributions in the arts.

According to the above-mentioned publication, this year the ceremony will see a switch in location where it will now take place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand Gauteng on the 24th of November.

Following her recent passing as a result of lung cancer, her husband, Bishop Mpendulo says that her legacy will be celebrated at this year’s event.

“We, as the board of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, are committed to celebrating the high standards that Zanele championed during her time at the helm of the Crown Gospel Music Awards “

He continued, “We acknowledge the profound legacy she has left behind, and we pledge to build it and take it further to the next level.”

The bishop later extended his gratitude towards the government for their assistance in the organising of the event.

“We thank the Gauteng government and sponsors for being supportive since the death of the visionary of the awards, who worked with a very big team.”
