The news of one of South Africa’s success stories Nkosinathi Maphumulo also known as Black Coffee’s flight accident surfaced last night, leaving many internet users in shock.
The Grammy award winning deejay who recently headlined a show at the Madison Square Garden in New York was on his way to Mar Del Plata, a coastal city located in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina.
The news was confirmed through a statement sent out on social media by the family which reads:
“Black Coffee was involved in a severe travel accident on a flight en route to his scheduled show in Mar Del Plata. The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries.”
The statement continued:
“We can confirm that he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by a supportive family and team.
“In respect of his privacy, we kindly request understanding and patience from the media and his fans. Despite the challenges presented, Black Coffee is optimistic and recovering well!”
The statement concluded by giving his fans and followers hope that he will be fine soon, adding:
“He looks forward to being back with you all very soon.”

Upon hearing the flight accident news, Minister of Arts and Culture Zizi Kodwa sent out his well wishes, adding that he spoke to the global icon’s family:
