A recent Cotton Fest performance by Black Coffee’s older son Esona left mixed reactions online as fans accused him of being a nepotism baby.
Esona Maphumalo, the firstborn son of the Grammy Award-winning DJ and record producer, performed at the annual Cotton Fest event in Johannesburg, a festival created by the late rapper Riky Rick to cultivate young artists’ talents by giving them a platform to showcase their talents. His performance might not have impressed fans.
On the other hand, his father is known to DJ with only one hand and has gone on to achieve great things nationally and internationally, with his son following in his footsteps.
Given the amount of criticism celebrities receive, Esona’s effort to imitate his father may appear to some as nepotism. Still, it is crucial to pursue your aspirations regardless of who your parents are.
Controversial blogger Musa Khawula posted this post on X (previously known as Twitter) of Esona DJing. Although the blogger referred to the young DJ as a nepo baby (a name used to describe children who have famous parents), most users feel that Esona will reach his full potential as a DJ with time.
