The Oscar nominations are here and Marvel’s hit sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has bagged six Oscar nominations and with Angela Bassett making yet another historical moment.
The actress has been nominated for her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Angela is the first woman, the first person of color and the first Marvel Studios actress to be nominated for an Oscar for their performance in a comic book adaptation.

The Marvel film is also nominated for Best Costume Design (Ruth Carter); Best Makeup and Hairstyling (Camille Friend and Joel Harlow); Best Original Song (“Lift Me Up” Music by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Goransson; Lyric by Tems and Ryan Coogler) and Best Visual Effects (Geoffrey Baumann, Craig Hammack, R. Christopher White, and Dan Sudick).
In addition to Black Panther: Wakand Forever’s recognition, Brian Tyree Henry is also nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role as James Aucoin in the drama film Causeway.
The 2023 Oscars will take place on Sunday the 12th of March at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood with Jimmy Kimmel back as the host after hosting the show in 2017 and 2018. Last year, Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer hosted the highly anticipated event.
