TV personality Boitumelo also known as ‘Boity’ Thulo is not one to shy away when it comes to putting trolls in their place every now and then.
The SA rapper took to her social media, where she tweeted “motho ogodile guys” meaning: “a person has grown.”
After tweeting that some Twitter trolls responded by saying:
“Get married, have kids and stop chasing popularity because 40 won’t be kind to the childless you.”
Boity did not appreciate that type of comment, and has since responded saying:
“Kante le fetsa leng go bua mar*te?” Which can be translated as “when will you stop talking nonsense?”

Research shows women’s reasons for choosing not to have children are multifaceted and complex. Overpopulation and climate change, a lacking maternal instinct, health concerns and a desire for independence and freedom are just a few.
Psychotherapist Zoe Krupka defines childfree by choice as a woman making a conscious decision that she does not want to have her own children.
“It doesn’t mean she doesn’t want to co-parent or step-parent or help her friends out with their kids or be an aunty, but she’s made a conscious decision that’s not based on infertility or chance or circumstances beyond her control,” she says.
And rather than it being about cost, ruining your body or the fact having kids can be a rough gig, Dr Krupka says women are turned off by the ridiculous standards around motherhood.
“You would think that it was about the terrible deal it can be when you have kids.
“But it’s mostly, for a lot of women, about what the ideal of motherhood is like and what the standard is like — the perfectionism around mothering.
“It’s not just that there isn’t support for women to ‘have it all’, but that there is intense social criticism of mothers that makes it a particularly unattractive option.”
Therefore women should not be shamed for not wanting to have kids as one does not know the decision nor circumstance which they may be experiencing.
However Boity’s clap-back received mixed reactions with some people saying the Twitter user was right, while others said people should learn to mind their own businesses.
Here is what tweeps had to say:
He’s right! Those ovaries will age faster than you can say “ marete “

Sad to see how people can feel so entitled on making decisions for someone else’s future.
