Bonang Matheba, also known as Queen B, will be replacing actress Thuso Mbedu as the ambassador of global beauty brand L’Oreal.
Bonang has a remarkable history of becoming the first South African ambassador for Revlon, which was an incredible achievement. The TV personality also partnered with American brand Steve Madden on their 2023 collection.
An inside source disclosed to entertainment publication ZiMoja that L’Oréal’s brand has chosen the well-known TV personality, Bonang Matheba, to replace Thuso Mbedu as their ambassador.
In October last year, Thuso Mbedu was announced as the first black brand ambassador for sub-Saharan Africa, as part of the “Because I’m Worth It” campaign, which aimed to empower women. However, it has been less than a year since Thuso was appointed as an ambassador.
The source stated that Bonang would be introduced as a digital ambassador, and they are unsure about Thuso’s contract status.
It has been reported that Bonang Matheba and her team pitched to the international brand and were successful in winning them over.
“She knows her story. She gave a very impressive pitch. She will be starting to shoot for the brand over the next coming weekend and has been travelling with them” adds the source.
Bonang and Thuso made their runway debut last year at the prestigious Le Défilé L’Oréal Paris show in the city.
