After Banyana Banyana’s qualifying victory for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, media personality Bonang Matheba called out South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan.
On Wednesday, 2 August, the Mzansi women defeated Italy in a thrilling 3-2 victory to advance to the tournament’s round of 16 stages.
Banyana was down a goal in the 10th minute after Italy was given a penalty, and it appeared their hopes of qualifying for and winning their first World Cup were lost. Nevertheless, the South African women displayed grit to finish second in Group G behind Sweden thanks to goals from Hildah Magaia and Thembi Kgatlana, and an own goal from Benedetta Orsi.
On Sunday, 6 August, at 04:00 South African time, Banyana will play The Netherlands.
Following two straight draws in the tournament, South Africa’s confidence in Banyana has been restored thanks to this historic victory.
The Young, Famous & African star took to her Twitter page to shade the SAFA president, Danny Jordaan, who is not quite likeable in the football arena at the moment.
“Danny Jordan is stresseddttttt la nkutlwa! O batla go swa,” she wrote.
