Award-winning actor, Bonko Khoza has added a new experience to his colourful resume by wearing an executive producer cap in an upcoming film, City of Gold.
Bonko has played various roles, from esteemed to wicked characters, and is mostly known for the characters he portrayed on The Wife, Red Ink, and Heart of the Hunter among many others.
Bonko will take the lead role in the City of Gold alongside Gaosi Raditholo, Gontse Ntshegang, Vuyo Dabula, Given Stuurman and Brandon Auret.
This film, whose name embraces Joburg’s identity, is a crime-action film that explores themes of power, survival, and fractured humanity. This riveting feature from the Lucky Rhino production is directed by Fabien Martorell who also serves as a producer alongside Neo Baloyi, Clifford Elk, Basetsana Kumalo, Jeremy Nathan, Phil Lyon, Jean-François Dugal, and Sheila Afari.
Recently, Bonko took to his Instagram page to express his gratitude for being part of City and Gold. “Honoured to be part of City of Gold, a project that pushes the boundaries of South African storytelling. Grateful for the journey, the team, and the magic we created. Can’t wait for the world to see this,” he penned.

This gripping film follows the life of Somandla played by Bonko, who is a determined and tormented gangster that is haunted by his father’s death. While navigating the dangerous criminal underworld, he encounters a relentless police woman searching for her missing brother and also meets a corrupt cop with sinister motives.
