Details of the relationship between the slain, award-winning rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his late fiancée Anele Tembe will be made public soon in the form of a book.
Award-winning journalist Melinda Ferguson serves as the author of the book titled When Love Kills: The Tragic Tale of AKA and Anele.
According to NB Publishers, the R320 book is set to hit shelves in April this year. A description of the book reads, “When Love Kills is the tale of hip hop star AKA whose life unravelled when he embarked on a relationship with 21-year-old Anele Tembe.”
The description continues, “When she ‘fell’ to her death from the 10th storey of the Pepper Club in April 2021 after a long night of heated arguing, details would emerge that they’d been caught up in a whirlwind of toxic obsession, alleged substance abuse and violence. Less than two years later, AKA was assassinated in what looked like a hit to avenge her death. This is their tragic story.”
RiP to both Anele Tembe and AKA, at least they’ll keep each other company in heaven.

AKA was murdered in Anele’s hometown of Durban on 10 February 2023 while Anele herself died on 11 April 2021 in Cape Town where the rapper is from.
According to The South African, the late AKA and his fiancée started dating in 2020 and announced their engagement in February 2021. Weeks later, the All Eyes On Me hitmaker successfully paid lobola. AKA has also previously admitted that his relationship with Anele, who often threatened to end her life, was toxic.
