Following recent complications surrounding the postponement and cancellations of his concerts, it has now been confirmed that Nigerian rapper Burna Boy will give his South African fans the show they have been longing for.
According to a statement released on the Ternary Media Group website, it is confirmed that Burna Boy will be coming to Johannesburg in February 2024.
“Due to the global artist’s schedule, we have come to an agreement that the concert or show will be held on February 24, 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa” confirmed the statement as reported by The Citizen.
“I’m very elated to be coming to South Africa! Make sure you get your tickets. It’s going to be a blast! Tell them, I TOLD THEM!” said Burna Boy.
The last few months have been chaotic for the African rapper. The concert was initially supposed to take place over the Heritage weekend in September, however, one of the organising partners to US businessman Gregory Wings – Sedote Nwachukwu – found himself caught in suspicion of fraud.
It was allegedly discovered that Sedote had been stealing money from the ticket sales and had not paid the suppliers for their services. He later left the country, leaving the American businessman to take the fall by facing jail time in South Africa.
Meanwhile, according to The Citizen, Gregory has since been released and managed to clear his name and filed lawsuits against Nwachukwu, Ticketpro, FNB Bank, Thabiso Tshabalala and Helga Kilzanie for defamation, extortion and loss of income.
The public are also encouraged to be on the look out for Sedote, with a reward on offer for anyone with information regarding his whereabouts.
It has not yet been confirmed when the tickets will be on sale, but it will be made available on the Tenary Media Group website as well as Computicket starting at R950.
