AKA’s posthumously-released album Mass Country is still receiving its flowers from industry mates, including Cassper Nyovest, who stated that Company is one of his favourite songs.
Cassper made an appearance on the podcast The Episode where he spoke about being authentic, his Sprite partnership, his upcoming album and the late AKA.
One of the host’s said to Cassper, “Every time I’ve see you in the club… you really love Company.”
Cassper responded, “You know what bro, I’ve always been a fan of good music and with this project of Kiernan it is so hard for me. People don’t even understand how hard it was for me and they may take it however they want to take it, but Company is a brilliant song. Every time I am in the club and I hear it I’m like, ‘This is such a big song.'”
He continued, “When it dropped it was like my favourite song at that time, I mean, it’s still one of my favourite songs. I think it’s a brilliant song. It’s not every day you hear a song like that. It makes you feel so good.”
The Mama I Made It rapper also revealed to The Episode that he and AKA recorded music together that is still in possession of Ganga Beats, before their infamous beef. “We actually have music together that people have never heard. We made a few records together,” he said.
Further speaking about their fallout, Cassper noted, “He was doing his thing and I was doing mine, and we went back and forth. I don’t know about him, but I don’t remember ever thinking we were carrying South African music. That was the most interesting thing in music.”
