Not only is endurance one of her strongest attributes on the race track, it is also something she applies to her daily life.
South African 800m athlete Caster Semenya and her wife Violet Raseboya recently celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary.
The celebrations coincided with the Olympic winner’s thirty third birthday.
Taking to Instagram the gold medalist shared some inspiring words to the love of her life.
“As we celebrate this day and my birthday, I am happy to say I love the growth and maturity in this journey. May we continue to love, care, support and respect each other,” she wrote.
The couple have been together for 14 years, seven of those partners and the other seven as a married couple, highlights Violet who has been through most of Caster’s highs and lows throughout the years.
In an episode of BET Africa’s Being Caster Semenya, the Olympic champion shared a story about how the two first met.
“We met in a restroom in 2007. She was a runner and was being escorted by doping officials. She thought I was a boy and said ‘What is a boy doing in here?’”
While she admitted that she was immediately defensive, she added that she did have feelings for Violet who at the time had boyfriend and tried to deny being in love with a woman.
It took a while for them to start dating and Caster said it was her that told Violet about her feelings for her.
In a post of her own, Violet shared how much their relationship of 14 years meant to her.
